Teeth Whitening

Everyone knows brushing and flossing your teeth everyday are ways to keep your teeth bright, white, and healthy. Still, you might want just one to two shades whiter or that extra sparkle to your smile. St. Bethlehem Dental is here to help.

We offer teeth whitening treatments that can give you the gleaming smile you’ve always wanted. A simple process, teeth whitening products break down stains creating less concentrated color and brighter teeth. Bleaching can be used when teeth can be whitened beyond the natural color and whitening can be used to restore a tooth’s surface by removing dirt and debris.

Teeth Whitening - St. Bethlehem Dental Care - Sedation DentistryTeeth can lose color for a multitude of reasons:

  • Food and Drink
  • Tobacco Use
  • Age
  • Trauma
  • Medications
  • Grinding
  • Translucency and thinness

Major staining culprits like coffee, tea, red wine, tar, and nicotine creates discoloration of the teeth that’s hard to get rid of with normal brushing and flossing.

In-office whitening allows you to get the smile you want without the hassle of doing it at home, plus it’s a lot faster. You will see significant color change in a shorter period of time using in-office whitening. Take-home kits and over-the-counter kits take longer for color change to occur and more often than not you forget to stick with it. In-office whitening uses a high-concentration peroxide gel that is applied to the teeth after the gums have been protected. Typically, we keep the peroxide on your teeth for several 15 to 20 minute intervals resulting in about an hour visit. Additional bleaching sessions can be made for stubborn staining.

The degree of whiteness can vary from patient to patient depending on the condition of teeth, level of staining, and type of whitening system used. Teeth whitening isn’t permanent, however, and patients can see whiteness fade in as little as one month if teeth are exposed to foods and beverages. If not, whiteness can last for a year or longer before additional treatments are needed.
